Today we spent time as tourists in Santa Fe. First we had amazing walnut and blueberry waffles so we had energy to be tourists. Next we headed to the Farmers’ Market where David was able to get some ideas about where to get some equipment he needs for the farm. Joel enjoyed shooting rubber bands (a skill newly acquired from Clara) at a farmer-vendor who responded with squirts from his spray bottle. Raquel, meanwhile, found a place to buy homemade scented lotion bars. From there we went to a wonderful park to play. The landscaping is all xeriscape (with drought-resistant plants) but there was a fountain where the kids were able to cool off and fun things on which to climb or spin.
After lunch, we headed downtown to the historical plaza. We oohed and aahed over the amazing jewelry and other craft sold by the native artisans in front of the governor’s palace before heading into the new Natural History Museum. In the museum, some things are hands-on, so we got a little silly.
Renewed by an ice cream and refreshed by rain, we headed back to the house for suits to go swimming at the local pool. Then we wrapped up the evening with a barbeque at home.
